Hotlink­ing images (includ­ing images in your web­page that come directly from some­one else’s server) is bad — it uses other peo­ples’ band­width, and if that other per­son is unaware of it, they could make changes that cause the hotlinked image to stop work­ing, or worse, be ran­domly replaced by Goatse.

If you’re arriv­ing here, you’re prob­a­bly vis­it­ing from a site that’s hotlinked an image from this one.
